The Story
Genesis of Darkness, Volume 1: Chaos
"Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing." — John Stuart Mill
In the cold infinity of deep space, Commander Xanqunnes Lichtbringer — atheist, explorer, rebel — rescues a dying feline king from a barren moon. What he doesn't know is that the king carries an immortal soul named IIION, and that act of mercy will make him the most wanted man in the galaxy.
On the military world of Karai, a warrior named Vespera hides a forbidden secret: she is a woman, fighting in a society that has oppressed her gender for twenty thousand years. Captured, tortured, and sentenced to die, she finds an unlikely ally in Skythe — a genetically engineered assassin who was built to kill.
On the world of Knovereah, the most powerful sorceress in existence has been exiled to the Silver Void. In her absence, a necromancer usurps the throne, a traitorous dragon questions her decisions, a prince is wrongfully imprisoned, and a minotaur guardian must cling to his faith in a fight to save his charge.
And in a series of philosophical preludes set 210,000 years in the past, a Master and Student discuss the nature of consciousness, existence, and the path to eternal liberation — laying the foundation for everything that follows.

Themes
What Lies Beneath
Eastern Spirituality
Chakras, meditation, reincarnation, and the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita weave through every storyline. The universe pulses with the resonance of "Aauumm" — a cosmic truth that defies scientific explanation.
The Nature of Power
Political intrigue, military ambition, and corruption drive civilisations to the brink. From the Karain Grand Senate to the Council of Creation, power corrupts — and absolute power makes monsters.
Loyalty & Betrayal
Brothers betray brothers, adopted siblings steal thrones, and genetic creations defy their masters. Loyalty is the rarest currency in a universe where trust can kill you.
Science vs Sorcery
An atheist commander confronts an immortal soul. Genetic engineering clashes with ancient magic. In the Genesis of Darkness, neither science nor sorcery holds all the answers.
Gender & Identity
Vespera hides her gender to fight in a world that forbids women from combat. Across twenty thousand years of oppression, one warrior's rebellion becomes a revolution.
Free Will & Destiny
Are we masters of our fate, or pawns of forces beyond comprehension? The preludes of the Master and the Student explore karma, consciousness, and the eternal question of choice.

The Prologue
The stars were wrong.
Commander Xanqunnes Lichtbringer stood at the observation deck of the Bhagavad, his calloused hands wrapped around a mug of something that had stopped being coffee three star systems ago. The liquid was cold. He didn't notice.
Outside the viewport, the universe stretched in every direction — a void so vast that even light seemed to lose its nerve halfway across. And somewhere in that darkness, between the mapped constellations and the territories no sentient being had claimed, the stars were wrong.
Not dramatically. Not in a way that would trigger the ship's navigation alerts or set AMI's algorithms into a spiral of recalculation. Just... wrong. A degree off. A fraction of a fraction that a machine wouldn't care about but that a man who'd spent forty years staring at starfields would feel in his bones.
"You notice it too," said a voice behind him. Not a question.
Xanqunnes didn't turn. He knew who it was without looking — Rudi, his first mate, fellow veteran of too many campaigns and too little sleep. "Notice what?"
"The thing you've been staring at for the last hour."
